The Edinburgh Research and Innovation (ERI) Board of Directors, comprising senior representatives from the University of Edinburgh, has overall governance responsibility and oversees the strategic direction and performance of the company. The company registration number is SC148048.
The company was created in March 1998 as a result of the merger of UnivEd Technologies Ltd (ERI's predecessor) and the University's research support office. The company's registration was subsequently merged with Edinburgh Technopole Company Limited (previously registered on 14 December 1993). The company changed its name by special resolution to Edinburgh Research and Innovation Limited on 22 August 2002.
